Jennifer Saunders has an impressive CV.
Best known as part of comedy duo French and Saunders, with close pal Dawn French, her other successes have included writing and starring in hit sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, playing the wicked Fairy Godmother in animated movie Shrek 2 and most recently writing the book for Spice Girls musical Viva Forever.
Her private life has been as riotous as that of her on-screen characters, according to new memoir Bonkers: My Life in Laughs.
In it, she reveals a multitude of hilarious stories, including shooting Lulu, trading wild faxes with Joanna Lumley and the bizarre experience of touring India with Ruby Wax and Goldie Hawn.
The 55-year-old, who has three daughters with husband Adrian Edmondson, is also honest about some of her personal struggles, including her recent battle with cancer.
But she never loses her sense of humour, describing herself ironically as ‘brave Jen’ and claiming her biggest battle as being with ‘the Laws of Procrastination’.
She says: “There has never been a Plan. Everything has been fairly random, happened by accident or just fallen into place. I’m off now, to do some sweeping...”
Bonkers: My Life in Laughs is available now, priced £20.
Jennifer Saunders will be signing copies of Bonkers: My Life in Laughs at WHSmith in Bluewater at 12.30pm on Wednesday, December 4. Call 01322 386843 for information.
