Pensioner hurt in road accident

AN 80-year-old woman pedestrian was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells, with serious head injuries after she and a van were in collision at the junction of the town's Nevill Street and Frant Road, near the Pantiles.

The accident, which happened at 11.45am, led to local roads being closed by police and diversions being set up, causing traffic problems well into the afternoon.
