Tonbridge: Brownies spend free time litter picking to clean up their local area

Local children showed how much they love where they live by holding a litter picking event recently.

The group of 22 girls from 2nd Tonbridge Brownies spent 90 minutes clearing up the streets of Tonbridge on Monday, June 6.

The Brownies met at the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul in Church Lane and made their way to Tonbridge Castle.

Rebecca Gardner , the Snowy Owl for the group, said: “The girls suggested it would be good to have an activity around litter picking. This also ties in with part of their promise to serve their community, so we wanted to give them a chance to do this.”

Tonbridge Town District Girlguiding helps the girls to guide their own programme, generating ideas for activities and events like this one.
