Broadstairs thug Perry Morris jailed for attacks on two women

A violent thug who brutally attacked two women, leaving them with horrific injuries, has been locked up.

Perry Morris repeatedly punched one of his victims, pulled her hair and smashed her head against a wall several times as she screamed for him to stop.

In the terrifying and unprovoked hour-long attack, he told the victim he would kill her as he hit her over and over again using his fists and other objects including a crash helmet and baseball bat.

The 22-year-old also throttled the woman until she fell unconscious.

The woman's harrowing ordeal last July started when Morris - who was banned from contacting her due to a restraining order - got in touch to say they needed to speak because he was unwell.

They agreed to meet at Margate main sands before going back to a flat in Westbrook.

But once there, Morris became angry and launched the vicious attack on his victim as she sat on a sofa.

"Morris carried out horrific attacks on these women and it is unacceptable and inexcusable. His victims have faced violence, intimidation and threats..." - Det Con Paul Francklin

When she regained consciousness, Morris continued to pull her around by her hair and kick her until she managed to escape the flat.

Two members of the public heard the screams and when they approached to offer help, Morris stopped his attack and left.

The victim was left with a broken bone in her hand and significant bruising all over her body.

Morris was also sentenced for another attack on a different woman he knew, which he had carried out in Margate in March 2015 in front of a young child.

After arguing with the woman, he hit her in the face with his cap, poured juice over her head and pulled her around by the hair.

As the assault continued, he kicked her legs, squeezed her by the neck and spat in her face. He also damaged a door and a wall and a light switch during the rampage.

The victim was left distressed with bruising to her arms and legs and cuts to the inside of her mouth.

Morris, of Prince Andrew Road, Broadstairs, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and false imprisonment in relation to the July attack.

A further charge of harassment - breach of restraining order - was left on file.

He also pleaded guilty to common assault, actual bodily harm and criminal damage in relation to the March incident.

At Canterbury Crown Court last week, he was sentenced to eight years in prison and will have to spend a further three years on licence.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Paul Francklin said: "Morris carried out horrific attacks on these women and it is unacceptable and inexcusable.

"His victims have faced violence, intimidation and threats and still found the courage to speak out and report it.

"I thank them and their families for supporting these prosecutions against Morris which means he is unable to cause them any more harm.

"If people find themselves becoming victims of abuse, I hope this result provides them with the confidence to raise the alarm and seek help."
