Village pupils sample life as wartime evacuees

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

Wartime history was brought to life for children from a Thanet primary school when they sampled life as a World War II evacuee.

The year six pupils from St Nicholas-at-Wade C of E travelled back in time almost six decades on a school trip with a difference to Dover Museum.

Dressed in outfits from the 1940s and carrying suitcases, 'gas mask’ containers and teddy bears, almost 30 youngsters mingled with morning commuters as they boarded a train at Birchington.
