Tesco in Northdown Road, Margate, to close for refurbishments

Shoppers are set to face disruption over five weeks as a Tesco superstore will close intermittently for refurbishment works.

The Margate branch in Northdown Road is to be renovated, with the first phase of work starting on January 19, forcing customers to go elsewhere.

Between January 29 and February 18, a temporary set-up, offering essentials, will operate at the front of the store, while the back will be blocked off.

The site will then be fully closed again between February 19 and 28.

If all goes to plan, the new and improved Tesco will officially open its doors again on February 29.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We apologise for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming customers to the refreshed store from the end of February.

“Our Margate superstore will be closed for refurbishment from 19th January; however, a temporary smaller store will be open on-site offering essentials to customers between 29th and 18th February.”
