Schools alive to sound of music - pictures

One of the world’s best loved musicals takes to the stage in Ramsgate this week when The Sound of Music and the fortunes of the singing Von Trapp family is featured.

The annual joint production by students from Chatham House and Clarendon House grammar schools is presented at Clarendon House in Clarendon Gardens on Thursday, February 5, Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7 at 7.30pm.

Under the drama direction of Maddy Lewis and musical direction of Iona Mcintosh, huge attention to detail has gone into the show with lavish costumes, carefully designed sets and months of rehearsal.

More than 60 students are in the cast and band, who will play memorable numbers including Eidelweiss, I am 16 Going On 17, My Favourite Things, and What Are We Going To Do About Maria.

There's a sing-a-long matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30pm. Themed refreshments, inspired by the story will be served by nuns at all performances.

Tickets are available from the school, priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions.
