Child on bike hit by car on Margate Road, Ramsgate

A child has been taken to hospital after he was hit by car whilst riding a bike on a busy road.

The boy was cycling along the A254 Margate Road in Ramsgate when he collided with a car at about 3.20pm today.

Police were at the scene for about an hour and there was heavy traffic in the area, but the route has now been reopened.

The youngster was assesed by paramedics before they took him to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at around 3.20pm on Wednesday 14 June 2023 to a report of a collision involving a car and a cyclist.

“Officers attended the scene in Margate Road, Ramsgate along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service where a boy was reported to be injured.

“Police remained at the scene for around an hour.”

An ambulance service spokesman stated: “SECAmb was called shortly after 3pm today to reports of an RTC involving a vehicle and a bicycle.

“Ambulance crews attended and the cyclist, a child, was assessed and treated before being taken to hospital for further checks.”
