Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis says his side are better when games come thick and fast

Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis wishes his side could play twice a week all season.

Forget tiredness, Davis has been doing his homework and can prove Brickies are better when they play regularly.

He said: “From 11 midweek league games, we’ve lost once, and that was 3-0 at Herne Bay.

“We’ve drawn four and won the rest which is ridiculously good. How’s that for a stat?

“We’re at our best when games come thick and fast. Since we’ve only been playing Saturdays, we’ve looked rusty.

“It’s a funny one but our midweek record must be as good as anyone in the division. I was having a look back through the results and was shocked.

“Some teams struggle with midweek games when people have been working all day but maybe because we’re a young side, that’s helped.”

It’s Saturdays all the way in Sittingbourne’s final eight Ryman League, Division 1 South games, bar the Easter Monday derby at home to Faversham on April 17.

Brickies, in 13th, continue their bid for a top-half finish at struggling Chipstead this weekend. Victory would see them beat last season’s points total of 54.

Danny Rumbol (shoulder) and Jake Embery (broken hand) are back in training as Bourne look to continue their good form against struggling sides.

Davis added: “We’ve beaten Chatham, Molesey and Godalming, who are all down there and Chipstead aren’t out of the woods. We’ve done all right against the lower sides.”
