Wimpy leasehold in Sittingbourne High Street up for sale

A town centre Wimpy restaurant is for sale for just under £150,000.

The Sittingbourne fast-food chain has been listed online by Apex Business Sales on Businesses for Sale due to the seller having “commuting difficulties”.

The premises are described as having “a coveted trading location” on the High Street in a “prominent Kent town” with “an excellent level of passing trade augmented by a high percentage of local trade”.

It adds that “tremendous potential exists for the introduction of longer opening hours – especially evening trade”.

Wimpy reopened in the town in December 2017.

The 100-seater restaurant opened under the stewardship of new franchisee Adnan Etemi and his team.

Sittingbourne’s previous Wimpy closed in 2011 and the relaunch created 10 jobs.

Mr Etemi, who also had two other Wimpy restaurants at Chatham Docks and Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, invested nearly £200,000 in the new venture.

The leasehold, which is being sold for £149,000, comes with 10 years remaining on its original 15-year lease.

The rent is £28,000 a year and there are reviews every five years – the next review is in 2027.

Wimpy has been contacted for comment.
