In Central Avenue, a total of six groups will take to a makeshift stage to show-off their musical prowess.

The Forum shopping centre will also join the spirit of the occasion, hosting a team of stilt walkers who will also parade along the High Street.

Youngsters can also enjoy a puppet show and face painters, while an array of food and drink stalls are sure to catch the eye of older visitors.

This year’s theme is Carnival International which is designed to inspire people to dress up in colours representative of different countries.

The parade itself starts at 3pm in Milton High Street.

It will travel along Chalkwell Road to London Road before stopping briefly in the High Street. The procession finishes in East Street.

It was hoped about 30 floats would enter this year’s parade.

Event coordinator, Sara Seabridge, said: “We hope people will dress up, be colourful and support our event.

“In the High Street, we’ll be giving out blowers and trumpets for the children – something noisy which will add to the party atmosphere.”
