Stunning outfits and a musical firework finale were just two of the highlights of a college prom.

All the guests at Sittingbourne Community College’s prom, who have taken their GCSEs this summer, added to the drama of the occasion by wearing masquerade masks.

Pupils and their families were welcomed by college staff with a champagne reception.

There was a sense of anticipation from the guests as the organisers maintained the prom tradition of keeping the venue – the Weald of Kent Golf Club, Headcorn – secret from everyone. Votes were secretly cast by all to determine the prom royalty.

An announcement was made over the school’s PA system before the event by receptionist Mary Roberts. She started the evening by asking guests to board the coaches to take them to the event.

It was to be one of her last duties as she retires this year after 34 years at the college and its predecessor, St John’s School for Boys. Guests were amazed by performers’ magic tricks and illusions, led by entertainer Thom Harrison.

As the sun set the ceremony for the prom royalty began, with Sam Gambell and Storm Marshall winning the votes from the students to become prom king and queen.

Jack Cooper and Charlotte Cross won the vote from the staff for prom prince and princess.

As the crowning came to an end, the prom finale started with a bang.
A musical firework display, provided by Pyromania Displays, set to Take That’s The Greatest Day gave a magical moment for all to remember.
