Future of darts team in doubt

SHEPPEY’S involvement in the Kent Darts Super League could be in doubt after they failed to fulfil a fixture for the first time.

In a quarter of a century of the Super League’s history, the islanders had never pulled out of a match until last Wednesday night’s game at Chatham was cancelled because the visitors could only muster six of the nine players needed.

Now Sheppey secretary Tony Cox fears that the club’s involvement in the prestigious tournament could be coming to an end due to player apathy. He said: "I can’t understand it. We had a squad of 15 players at the start of the season but numbers have been tailing off."

Anyone who wants to contact Mr Cox about becoming involved with the team should phone 07747 676676.
