A mum has thanked the community after more than £10,000 was raised for the funeral and in memory of her daughter.

Since her death was announced earlier this week, Islanders have got together to pay tribute to four-year-old 'princess' Ezmae Catley, who had been suffering from multiple health problems and touched the hearts of people around the world.

Mum Claire Morrish, 36, said: "The help from the Island and everyone else has been amazing.

"She was a little girl who was loved by many - we don’t have the words to thank everyone enough.”

Tributes to the youngster flooded in on social media.

Emily Jean Morley, from Queenborough, started a GoFundMe page to raise cash for a “Fairytale Funeral” for the well-known Islander.

She had originally aimed to raise £3,000 for the family, but exceeded this, with the amount now standing at more than £5,600.

As well as funds from the page going towards her funeral, businesses and schools are doing their bit to help the bereaved family.

Island primary schools raised £5,863.01 from non-school uniform days held today.

West Minster Primary, Rose Street, Richmond Academy, St Edward's, Thistle Hill Academy, St George’s Primary, Minster Primary, Halfway Houses Primary, Queenborough School, Eastchurch Primary and Daisychains Nursery in Minster all got involved.

The Harps Inn, on Minster Road, is holding a fundraising day on Saturday from 12-3pm, with proceeds being donated to her parents.

Eden School of Dance in Railway Terrace, Queenborough, is also holding a two-hour Zumbathon on Thursday, January 12.

Entry costs £5 per person and sponsorship would be gratefully received. All ages and abilities are welcome and are asked to wear something pink or a tiara/fairy wings.

Details of Ezmae's funeral have now been announced by the family

. It will be held at the Garden of England Crematorium, Bobbing, at 1pm on Friday, January 20.

The funeral procession begins at midday from Minster Road and will pass through Halfway and then over the Kingsferry Bridge to the crematorium – all are welcome to join.
