A beauty queen from Sheppey is competing for the title of Miss European 2009.

Stacey Alliston-Green from Queenborough is battling it out with 50 girls from around Europe, as well as the other nine in Team England, on which she won a place in March.

Stacey, 20, was last year’s Miss Kent, has been a Sheppey Princess twice and was a member of Team England last year.

This weekend, Stacey will be taking part in the final of the competition, which will be held at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone.

She is competing against girls from Ireland, Wales, Belgium, the Netherlands and Malta.

The competition has three rounds – club-wear, swimsuit and evening dress – which are judged by a panel.

After these rounds have been completed the top three girls from each country are asked to answer a question and give a short speech about themselves.

If Stacey was crowned Miss European, she would hold the title for a year and her job would be representing England at functions around Europe.

Stacey, a former Minster College pupil, said: “I have had so much fun representing my town and then going on to do the same for my county, so it is such a privilege to be able to represent my country as well.

“It would be absolutely amazing if I did win Miss European.

“Even if I don’t I’m over the moon because I know it’s going to be fantastic.”
