Power cut hits high street

EDF Energy says it is trying to restore power as soon as possible.
EDF Energy says it is trying to restore power as soon as possible.

A power cut brought business to a halt in part of a Kent town on Friday.

Nearly 700 homes and premises were affected, including all shops in the lower high street in Sheerness.

The power went off just after noon.

An EDF energy spokesman said: "We are working to restore supplies as soon as possible."
