It also has other common aquatic products such as pond filters and fish supplements such as minerals and enzymes.

Hayley Welch, who runs the shop with the help of her family, said: “We opened as it’s a big passion of ours and have many years experience in all different aquatics.

“Our shop sells dry and live goods plus coldwater, tropical and marine fish.

“We want to keep it as cheap is possible for customers to ensure they return, even if they just want advice or a chat.

“We also want to eventually become the best aquatic shop in the whole of Kent and maybe even further at some point in the future.”

She added: “It’s taken us months to get our licence however we now have a top-tier four-star one, and would have had a five-star licence had we have been trading the year before.”

The shop is open seven days a week - 9am to 5pm Monday to Fridays and Sundays 10am and 4pm.

The aquarium comes seven months after Kent Discount Depot opened to customers at the same site in Leysdown Road.

The shop sells the likes of groceries, pet food, cleaning and laundry products, as well as homeware items such as bedding and kitchen utensils.
