Sheppey: Man arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after van crashes into traffic lights at Queenborough Corner

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a van crashed into a set of traffic lights.

Police were called to the collision, involving a Peugeot van, at Queenborough Corner shortly after 10pm last night.

Officers were joined by crews from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A police spokesman said: "A 52-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

"He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and is currently in custody."
