Beer lovers were well catered for at an annual festival over the weekend.

The Rotary Club of Minster-on-Sea hosted its sixth fundraiser in the grounds of the Aviator pub at Queenborough Corner on Saturday.

Around 1,500 people went along to try the 42 real ales, six ciders and range of lagers and spirits as well as the barbecue and hog roast – which both sold out.

There was also food available from inside the pub.

Five bands Pirate Sunset; Narratones; Blighty; Stoned; and Atlantic Currents; performed throughout the day and in between their gigs were songs by solo artists from the Sheppey Folk and Blues Club.

There was also a games tent which helped towards the £8,500 total.

Money will go into the Rotary’s Community Chest which will be dished out to local good causes.

Rotary press officer Kevin Roberts said: “Despite gloomy weather at the start. W-e had a fantastic day.

“The combination of beer, music and sunshine made for a very successful day.

“We in Rotary would like to thank all the sponsors, the musicians taking part, the hog roast and barbecue crews, Roadhouse Studio engineers and all the friendly hard-working Aviator staff.”
