Tributes paid to Kemsing father James Moyle killed in crash on A20 at Farningham

The family of a Kent father and dedicated firefighter who died while travelling home from work on the A20 at Farningham have paid tribute to him.

James Moyle, also known as Jim, died in King's College Hospital on Sunday, November 22 as a result of injuries sustained in the crash three days earlier.

The 47-year-old's family have paid emotional tribute to the loving father, who lived in Kemsing for more than 20 years.

In a statement released today they said: "Jim was a loving husband to Kate and they happily enjoyed 28 years together.

"A brilliant, fun loving dad to their daughters Emily, 18, and Bethany, 10.

"James, originally from near Croydon, lived in Kemsing for a total of 20 years, having met Kate while working at Fort Halstead in 1987.

"When the 7/7 bombings occurred, he was attending their second child’s baby scan but left the hospital to support his crew and the public" - family statement

"He celebrated his 47th birthday in August this year. On 27 April 1992 James joined the London Fire Brigade as a firefighter at Southwark and went on to become watch manager at Downham, Wennington and his most recent post at Eltham.

"In September he joined the fire investigations team and was thoroughly enjoying learning this new role. James loved and cared for his family and everyone around him.

"When the 7/7 bombings occurred, he was attending their second child’s baby scan but left the hospital to support his crew and the public.

"James was caring and extremely good fun. Very well liked and loved in both his community at home and in the London Fire Brigade."

The FBU (Fire Brigade’s Union) London region paid its condolences publicly via its Facebook channel.

Many colleagues have posted their thoughts about James including ‘an absolute gent’, ‘a shining example of an officer in the London Fire Brigade – tragic news, RIP Guvnor’, and “RIP Jim, such sad news – a true gent and a lovely man, thoughts are with your family.’

His mother, Lynda, lives in Sevenoaks and his sister Jane and her family live in Hove and Cornwall.

Kent Police are continuing to appeal for information following the collision, which occurred at about 6.30pm on Thursday, November 19 2015.

A blue Vauxhall Vectra and a black KTM motorcycle ridden by Mr Moyle were involved in the incident.

Officers from Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the incident.
