Level crossing barrier at Sandwich railway station destroyed after being struck by car in Dover Road

A level crossing barrier was destroyed after being hit by a car.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Sandwich railway station at just before midnight on June 29 following reports that a vehicle had struck the barrier.

Video footage shows the red and white rising bar crumpled on the side of Dover Road after the accident.

Nobody was injured.

BTP say the driver has been reported for consideration of prosecution.

Network Rail has been approached for comment.
