Kent's rail fares could be cut if the economy enters 'deflation'.
Train companies look set to be forced to cut prices on season tickets and off-peak services under the formula used for "regulated fares".
It is linked to the inflation rate, which is widely predicted to be negative over the coming months.
Transport Secretary Lord Adonis is expected to reject pleas from the rail companies to relax the formula.
