EVENING traffic on a section of the A2 will be disrupted for two months during the next stage of roadworks.

Costain Ltd, contractors for the A2 improvement and M25 widening schemes, will be installing lighting cables, midas loops for automatic traffic counting and gantry signs on the road near Bean, near Dartford.

Work will take place between 10pm and 5am each weekday night and will involve some lane and carriageway closures in one or both directions. The work starts on Monday and is scheduled to last until mid-April.

Traffic will be diverted off at the Bean junction when necessary. Diversions will be signposted.

A Highways Agency spokesman said: “While every effort will be made to minimise noise and disturbance to the local community throughout the construction period, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.”

Call the agency’s 24-hour helpline on 0845 603 6374 if you have any inquiries or complaints about the work.
