Gillingham are keen to trace the mystery man who left them an envelope filled with cash.
Chairman Paul Scally wants to thank the person for the donation, which totalled £600, and was left with an instruction to use it for the purchase of two season tickets, to be gifted by the club to whoever they felt should have them.
The Gills are currently running a week-long promotion where fans can get hold of a season ticket for just £300, a reduction on adult tickets in the Rainham End of £75.
Mr Scally said that he was “touched” by the gesture but never got the chance to thank him personally.
He said: “The gentleman turned up on Monday with £600 in an envelope and handed it in.
“He said he wouldn’t be able to come to any games this next season, for private reasons but he wanted us to donate two season tickets to someone.
“I am trying to find out who the guy is because I want to send him a thankyou letter.
“It was a nice touch and there have been a number of nice touches throughout the summer that we haven’t seen for some while.”
Time is ticking for Gillingham fans to take advantage of discounted season tickets. The original £300 offer had expired but the club brought it back for a week to boost sales.
Fans have until 5pm on Friday to get hold of a discounted ticket.
Those who purchased a full price season ticket inbetween offer periods are to receive a voucher to the value of the difference which can be spent in the club shop.

The season starts this Saturday, with the Gills playing away to Doncaster, with a home game against Burton Albion the following weekend.
New boss Steve Evans has made 10 new signings and they were on parade at Priestfield on Tuesday, for the official photoshoot.
Gillingham are hoping to tap into the current feel-good factor around the club and shift tickets ahead of their first home game. They were hoping to sell 3,000 before the season starts.
The ticket incentive comes just two months after Mr Scally embarked on a mission to visit the homes of fans who had been openly critical of the club and wanted their money back on season tickets.
As of this week, nobody has yet cashed any of the cheques that were written, says the chairman. One fan spoke to the KM about why he decided against cashing in.
