Gillingham have been handed a home draw in the League Cup against Premier League Newcastle United.

The two sides last met in the competition in 1977, with the north east side winning 2-1.

Gillingham booked their place in round two with a 2-1 win at Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

Newcastle finished 10th in the Premier League last season.

Manchester United - the team most were hoping to face - were last to be drawn and they face MK Dons away.

The second round takes place week commencing August 25.
