Police received a call just after 11.30pm on Wednesday (Jan 5) that the men had targeted two people sitting in a car and then driven off.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from the Roads Policing Unit were in the area and quickly spotted the stolen vehicle where, following a short pursuit, the vehicle collided with a wall in Chatham Hill. Both men, aged 29 and 31, were arrested at 11.47pm."

According to a police Tweet, the stolen car was spotted within five minutes of the call and ended up just inches away from a front door. Police said: "The suspect attempted a nifty J-turn to shake the police but lacked the required talent."

The men were taken to hospital for a check and then taken into police custody.

They were arrested on suspicion of robbery, driving unfit through drink/drugs, affray, failing to stop and assault.

Both men were released on bail until Saturday January 29.
