Try tai chi or sketching in the great outdoors with the Festival of Learning

Adult learners will have the chance to acquire two new skills at outdoor sessions tomorrow. The Festival of Learning will be holding two events at The Vines park in Rochester.

Tai chi, a martial art known for health benefits as well as teaching self-defence, will be taught between 10.30am and 11.30am while a sketching lesson will take place between 10am and noon.

A festival spokesman said: "Whether you are an experienced artist of a newcomer this free sketching workshop will reignite you artistic flair in the peaceful soundings of The Vines.

Previously known as Adult Learners' Week, the festival has been running since 1992 and is a celebration of the impact learning can have on people of all ages and backgrounds. The have a go learning events are the ideal opportunity to try something new and can cover anything from horticulture to Spanish.

The 2016 Festival of Learning has been taking place across the country throughout May and June.
