Wednesday night’s Prizefighter contest is an opportunity for Chatham heavyweight Tom Dallas to put a few things right, according to his manager Mark Roe.

Dallas was stopped in his last fight by Matt Skelton in March and Roe (pictured) is keen to see his man show that he has improved since.

"It is definitely a challenge for us and also a chance for Tom to put a few things right after his last contest," said Roe. "Everything he does is still a learning curve and this is part of that. He has a chance to prove what he can do and the three-round format might suit him better than others out there.

"I think he will prove what he can do. He is in the right frame of mind for this fight, more than he was for the Skelton one, and I hope he goes out and puts on a good show."

Dallas lasted five rounds before the fight with Skelton was halted by referee Phil Edwards.

"Tom’s mind wasn’t on the Skelton fight for some reason but what he did prove is that he has got a good chin as he just wouldn’t go down," said Roe. "Tom is still a good age in heavyweight boxing and is reasonably fresh."

And Roe believes that Dallas is more than capable of mixing with some of the more fancied names in the hat on Wednesday.

"We will certainly be facing better names in the prizefighter than we can get in the English market," he said. "I am not too worried about the other names in there. Kevin Johnson is quite good but looked flat-footed in his fight with Vitali Klitschko (fighting for the WBC title). We can combat him and Albert Sosnowski is at the end of the road.

"Everyone will be in it to win it and I just hope Tom Dallas turns up with the right frame of mind."
