A rotary club is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for charity through its 10th annual darts marathon.

Medway Rotary Club is supporting the Wisdom Hospice and Help for Heroes with he marathon that is open to all.

Teams of up to eight players are being invited to take part and each team will have to raise as much money as they can in sponsorship.

Players can choose a date between Saturday, March 27 and Friday, April 18 to hold their darts marathon. All sessions will be monitored by someone from Rotary.

Each team’s final score will be multiplied by the amount they have raised in sponsorship, meaning the winners need not be the best darts players.

A trophy and certificates will be presented to the winners by television pundit Bobby George at a gala ceremony.

Organiser Keith Powell said: “This is a great event because it involves a wide range of people throughout Medway and any team, however experienced, stands a good chance of winning.

“Our aim is to make this year’s Medway Rotary Dart Marathon the best ever and hope to raise many thousands of pounds for these excellent causes.”

The Wisdom Hospice, run by Medway Community Healthcare which is part of NHS Medway, is the only adult hospice serving the Medway and Swale area.

Help for Heroes raises money to help injured troops.
