Armed police and air ambulance called to park in Mill Road, Gillingham

A play area has been taped off by police after a teenage boy was stabbed.

Armed officers and an air ambulance were spotted near the Medway Park Sports Centre in Mill Road, Gillingham, at about 6pm.

Parts of the road were blocked by police near the junction with Trinity Road and the play park remains taped off as forensic officers work at the scene.

The boy has been airlifted to London hospital with injuries consistent with a stab wound.

A witness said: “The air ambulance landed on the park off Mill Road.

“There were a bunch of police units there, including two armed police vehicles and armed officers.

“There was also an ambulance and a critical care paramedic.

“It looked like a patient was flown to hospital.”

Police were first called just after 5pm.
