Firefighters were called to a lorry alight on Medway City Estate this afternoon.

Two fire engines from Strood were called to the scene on Sir Thomas Longley Road around 2pm and battled the blaze for an hour.

It is believed to have started in a shredding unit on the estate and spread to the seven and a half ton lorry, which contained shredded paper.

An ambulance was called to the scene as a precautionary measure for the driver of the vehicle.

Firefighters remained at the unit looking for any hotspots and to ensure the fire did not reignite.
