A grammar school is the latest to ask its students to self-isolate.

Rochester Grammar School, in Compass Close, has told a sixth form bubble along with a number of Year 7 and Year 9 pupils to stay home following a confirmed case of Covid-19 in each group.

It adds to the ever-growing list of schools impacted by the coronavirus, and earlier this week Dartford Science and Technology College decided to completely shut following an influx of positive tests.

A spokesperson from the Thinking Schools Acadmey Trust, who represent the girls' school, said: "Because of a positive case of Covid-19 in a Year 7 bubble at the academy, a small number of students in that year are now self-isolating at home.

"We have also had cases in our sixth form, and so that bubble has closed.

"This is in addition to the already closed Year 9 bubble.

"All these students are undertaking remote learning so that their education is not disrupted.

"These decisions have all been taken in line with official guidance and after speaking with the authorities including Public Health England. Our priority remains keeping everyone safe.

"The safety measures currently in place at the school are that all students and staff must wear a face covering in communal areas, there must be social distancing on site and allocated bubbles must be kept to, and we are maintaining the highest hygiene and cleaning standards."
