Medway's future stars contest mini World Cup

Harry Kanes of the future took the pitch to compete against their peers during their own mini World Cup event.

Pupils from three schools took part in the competition which was held at The Pilgrims School, in Borstal, last Friday.

The school, in Warwick Crescent is managed by The Pilgrim Multi Academy Trust which also manages St Margaret’s at Troy Town in Rochester and St Mark’s C of E Primary School, in Eccles.

Pupils from all three schools competed in the tournament, watched by their parents.

Youngsters from Pilgrims School won the tournament and lifted their own World Cup trophy.

Jan Taylor, chief executive of The Pilgrim Multi Academy Trust, said: "We brought two teams from each school site together to play football, and spend time with each other.

"Our sports coach Matt Thacker lead the event and from September it is hoped that he will work on all three sites developing skills from reception class upwards.

“The trust is a small trust made up of three schools and we are also the trust that has been allocated the new free school at Rochester Riverside, due to open September 2021, so we have a very exciting future ahead."
