Drug dealing brothers Cedric and Romeo Makiadi, from Chatham, jailed for dealing

A routine stop and search by officers has resulted in two drug dealing brothers being locked up.

Cedric Makiadi, 30, who is homeless, was jailed for three years and nine months after being charged with one count of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and one count of possession with intent to supply heroin.

His brother, Romeo, 24, of Mount Road, Chatham, was jailed for one year and four months after he was charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis and driving without a licence or insurance.

Both men were charged after officers on a routine patrol in January saw a vehicle in Palmerston Road, Chatham, which quickly drove away from them.

A short time later the two men who were seen in the vehicle were then seen walking on opposite sides of the road in nearby Magpie Hall Road.

Officers believed they were acting suspiciously and arrested them both on suspicion of drug offences.

They were later searched and Cedric, of no fixed address, was found to be in possession of 45 wraps of crack cocaine along with 30 wraps of heroin.

Both men were arrested and pleaded guilty to the charges and were sentenced on Friday, July 20, at Maidstone Crown Court.

DC Terry Hanlon, who investigated the case, said: "This is a good example of how proactive policing works to help take criminals off the streets.

"Both men admitted their crimes and had they not been stopped that day they would more than likely still be dealing drugs.

"I’m pleased they’ve been jailed and I hope it sends a strong message to others in Medway and Kent."
