A cyclist and an 11-year-old boy were taken to hospital within an hour of each other after two separate crashes last night (Wednesday).

Roads were closed in Luton after the 11-year-old boy was hit by a car at 5pm in Listmas Road.

The cyclist, in his 40s, was hit about an hour later by a car in Beechings Way, Twydall.

Ambulance crews and police were called to the junction with Beechings Green.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "The man suffered a large cut to his face, going round to his head."

The child and the cyclist were both taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, but it is not thought either of their injuries were life-threatening.

No-one was arrested following either incident.
