Maidstone United midfielder Reece Prestedge speaks about his goal at York City

Reece Prestedge scored his first Maidstone goal in Saturday's draw at York.

Prestedge, lurking outside the area, could hardly have hit the ball better from Jack Paxman's lay-off as United fought back from a goal down.

The on-loan Bromley man had his best game yet for Maidstone - capped by the goal.

He said: "To be honest, I should have hit one in the first half and the one where Pax set it, it was too nice not to hit.

"I've caught it very well and luckily enough it's gone in.

"It's a great point. Before the game we'd have been very happy with the point and it takes us out of the bottom four."

Maidstone somehow went in at half-time just a goal down after being overrun by York's 3-4-3 formation.

It was alien to Maidstone and difficult to play against but they adapted and turned the match around in the second half.

Prestedge said: "I've never really come up against any teams that go with that formation, 3-4-3, but I thought we dealt with it well in the second half.

"First half we were all over the place for 20 minutes.

"I think we dealt with it better after that and tried to get in at half-time at 1-0.

"It was like a game of two halves.

"We came in at half-time thinking we were still in the game and went out second half and first five or 10 minutes we were on top, got a bit of belief behind us and went from there.

"I think we could have even nicked it really."
