Maidstone United boss John Still explains why Saidou Khan stayed put in January transfer window

Maidstone held on to Saidou Khan in the January transfer window but John Still remains convinced he's destined for bigger things.

The midfielder, 24, attracted plenty of interest in the window but no bids.

That’s bound to change if the former Tooting man, who has another year on his Stones contract, continues his fine form.

Head of football Still said: “We’ve said to Saidou, and to a couple of boys who we think have done particularly well, you’re probably at a stage where clubs are thinking, shall we, shan’t we?

“The second half of the season will tell people what they’re going to do at the end of the season and I tend to think unless you’re going to go into a club and have an influence straight away, sometimes they do wait.

“If you’re going to go in and play, yes, I can see people moving.

"But if they’re going to go in and learn a bit more, maybe clubs think let’s leave them where they are and come in at the end of the season.

“He’s got everything going for him so I don’t see an issue in something bigger and better coming along for him, as long as he performs in the second half of the season.”
