Maidstone town centre businesses close after power cut

Electricity has been restored to several businesses in Maidstone town centre after a cut earlier today.

A power outage at around 1pm today meant RBS and Santander banks, and McColl's newsagents around Jubilee Square closed their doors to customers.

UK Power Networks said that a fault in a piece of electrical equipment was to blame for the loss of power.

Power is expected to be restored between 2:30pm and 3:30pm this afternoon.
