Teens use knife to rob pensioner

A pair of teenage robbers used a knife to steal a handbag from a pensioner.

The 76-year-old victim was on a day trip to Leeds Castle near Maidstone on Tuesday when the robbery took place.

She was sitting near the Broomfield entrance to the attraction at about 11.30am when she was approached by two girls aged about 17.

One tried to grab the bag and when she refused to let it go a knife was used to cut it from her shoulder.

The pair were both black, around 5ft 4ins, slim, one had straight shoulder length hair and the other had plaited shoulder length hair.

Police spokeswoman Pippa Taylor said: "This type of crime is very rare."
