Road re-opens after diesel spillage

A BUSY route into Maidstone has now re-opened following a clear-up operation to remove a diesel spillage.

Police were called to Penenden Heath Road at 6.30am this morning after the driver of an articulated lorry called police saying he was leaking diesel.

Penenden Heath Road was closed around the junction with Boxley Road as highways contractors began mopping up the spillage.

Traffic was diverted through alternative routes in Sandling and Kent Police said the road was reopened at around 8.30am.
