More time to quiz jewellery store raid suspects

POLICE have been given more time to question three men after a burglary at a Kent jewellers on Wednesday.

Two men smashed the window of Fraser Hart Jewellers in Fremlin Walk, Maidstone, with sledgehammers and grabbed a number of valuable watches.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police are questioning a 18-year-old from Peckham, a 21-year-old from Forest Hill and a 19-year-old from East Dulwich.

Wednesday's raid was the third on the same shop in as many months.

After the two previous robberies new security measures were implemented and there are two Police Community Support Officers working in the area.

Det Insp Susan Harper, leading the investigation said: "Police would like to thank both the public and CCTV operators in the town centre for their continued vigilance and assistance in this case. The ongoing investment in CCTV by Maidstone Borough Council assists us in keeping the streets of the County town safe."
