Man held over second pharmacy break-in

A 34-year-old man has been arrested following a second burglary within two days at a Lloyds pharmacy.

Police received reports of a break-in at the pharmacy in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, at about 1.30am this morning. They arrested a suspect on the premises.

He was being questioned at Maidstone Police Station.

The arrest follows a burglary at the pharmacy in the early hours of Wednesday morning when prescribed drugs valued at £5,000 were stolen.

Following that incident police warned members of the public not to buy medication from anywhere other than reputable stores.

They said the drugs stolen could cause serious illness if taken in the wrong quantities and without medical advice.

Police are currently investigating whether there is a link between the two incidents.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Acting Det Sgt Pat Holmes on 01622 604241, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – this call is free and confidential.
