Driver to stand trial after pedestrian's death

A man accused of causing the death of an elderly pedestrian by dangerous driving will stand trial in November.

Khuram Mahfooz, 25, of Northumberland Road, Shepway, Maidstone, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

It is alleged he caused the death of 75-year-old Sydney Freeman, also from Shepway, in Cumberland Avenue on June 27 last year.

Mahfooz, married with a child, was released on bail until his trial starts on November 2.
