WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has released former Gillingham defender Barry Ashby.

Ashby heads an initial list of four players who have been told that their contracts at Park View Road will not be extended.

Midfielder Rob Owen, defender Lee Gledhill and back-up goalkeeper Darren Ibrahim will not be offered new deals.

"I told the players on Tuesday night," said Pennock. "I want to move forward and those players are not in my plans for next season."

Ashby, who joined the Wings midway during last season, made 20 appearances for the club while right-back Gledhill clocked up 32 games.
