Wings close in on loan signing

Welling boss Andy Ford is hoping to snap up a forward on loan
Welling boss Andy Ford is hoping to snap up a forward on loan

Welling look set to bolster their squad by bringing in a forward on loan before the weekend.

Manager Andy Ford is keen to give his team a lift after picking up just one point from two home games this week.

Ford said: "I'm trying to bring two players in and hopefully one of them will come off soon.

"I can't keep waiting on Moses Ademola (from Brentford) but if he becomes available and I've already signed another forward then I'd bring them both to the club.

"We need some more competition up front."

Ford's attempts to bring Ademola back to Park View Road look set to be boosted after Brentford closed in on a loan deal for Ipswich forward Jordan Rhodes.

Meanwhile, Ford has lamented the bad weather that is restricting his work on the club's training ground.

Heavy rain has ruled out grass training, forcing the Wings to turn to a smaller astroturf area.

"I'm sure it's the same for most clubs at this time of year but there's a few things that we're doing wrong that I want to work on and can't.

"It's what I call basics but with things like pattern of play it's important that we are all on the same wavelength.

"We're desperate to do it - we've done it every Thursday throughout the season, apart from the last eight weeks or so. Instead we'll have to talk through things and hope that everyone takes it on board."
