Welling took a giant step towards ensuring their Blue Square South survival as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Sutton United on Saturday.

The Wings' opponents had already been relegated but stunned Andy Ford's men when Craig Dundas fired them in to a 12th minute lead at Gander Green Lane.

Welling trailed for only 12 minutes before left-back Robbie Ryan chose a timely moment to score his first Wings goal and level.

The winner came 20 minutes into the second period as Orlando Smith bagged his fourth goal of the campaign.

With Bognor and Maidenhead both winning it was a vital victory for Welling, who have picked up more points in Ford's 10 weeks in charge than they did in the first four months of the season.

The Wings now have a 10-day wait before they welcome Bishop's Stortford to Park View Road.
