Bolton Wanderers 1 Charlton Athletic 1

TALAL El Karkouri's second goal of the season secured a priceless point for Charlton in their fight against relegation on Wednesday at The Reebok.

The big central defender equalised in the 12th minute with a blistering 30-yard free-kick after Henrik Pedersen had headed Bolton in front six minutes earlier.

Charlton were forced to defend in depth for long periods, especially in the second half when Bolton applied sustained pressure.

Yet Charlton could have won the game in the 72nd minute when Gary Speed's stray back pass let in Jerome Thomas who shot straight at a relieved Jussi Jaaskelainen in the Bolton goal.

During a frantic finale, Charlton substitute Souleymane Diawara cleared off the line from Bolton substitute Ricardo Vaz Te.

Charlton: Carson, Sankofa, El Karkouri, Hreidarsson, Thatcher, Rommedahl (Lisbie 74), Faye, Holland, Hughes (Diawara 84), Thomas, Marcus Bent (Hasselbaink 85).
Subs Not Used: Randolph, Ambrose.
Attendance: 22,357.
