KENT have called off-spinner James Tredwell into their squad for Wednesday’s Frizzell Championship clash with Glamorgan in Cardiff.
The former England A skipper could form a two-pronged spin attack with Min Patel if Kent skipper David Fulton believes the Sophia Gardens wicket will assist his slow bowlers.
Tredwell, 23, from Ashford, replaces seam bowler Simon Cook in the Kent squad as the county look to put the eight-point deduction from Maidstone behind them.
If selected, it will be the off-spinner’s maiden first team run out this season and director of cricket Graham Ford believes Tredwell has earned his chance.
He said: "Tredders has done everything asked of him by way of his 2nd team and club performances.
"He has taken wickets and scored runs, including a hundred in the league, so we have no qualms about calling him in.
"We are covering all bases by sending him over to Cardiff, particularly when you see the number of left-handers Glamorgan are likely to have in their side."
Opening batsman Robert Key also re-claims his place in the four-day side after recovering from a bruised forearm and deposes rookie Joe Denly from the side that beat Gloucestershire.
