Ryman League round-up

Premier Division

On an afternoon wrecked by the rain, the main game of the day came at Crabble where Kent rivals Dover and Dartford played out a six-goal thriller.

The Darts took a shock lead after just eight minutes when Rob Haworth was left unmarked to head in Ryan Hayes's cross.

The home side levelled six minutes before the break when Shaun Welford's backheel found Jon Wallis who drilled beyond Darts keeper Andy Young.

The Whites went in front for the first time 10 minutes into the second period after Wallis's free-kick was headed in from almost on the goalline by Laurence Ball.

Howarth struck a post before netting an equaliser in the 71st minute after a goalmouth scramble.

But the league leaders weren't to be denied and restored their advantage in spectacular fashion less than two minutes later as James Rogers smashed home from 25 yards.

The points to send Dover 13 points clear at the top were made safe three minutes from time when Ollie Schulz got on the end of Wallis's cross to power a header past Young - and there was still time for Darts full-back Adam Gross to receive a straight red card for dissent.

Ramsgate were celebrating their first home league win of the season on Saturday night after coming from behind to beat Sutton United 3-1 at Southwood.

The visitors broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when former Ebbsfleet United player Chukki Eribenne tucked the ball away after good build-up play involving another ex-Fleet star Steve McKimm and Matt Hann.

The Rams were back on terms nine minutes before the break when Ben Brown and Warren Schulz combined superbly for the former to dance around the keeper and slot home.

The home side began to dominate and took the lead on 56 minutes when Danny Walder's free-kick eventually fell to Schulz to drill into the net.

Walder was involved in the third as well as another of his set-pieces was turned in at the far post by Jay May 16 minutes from time.

On a profitable day for the Kent sides in action (bar Dartford of course), Tonbridge also took maximum points from their trip to Harlow Town.

Simon Glover - who was later sent off for an apparent elbow - set the Angels on their way 11 minutes into the second half when he found himself unmarked in the box.

The second came in the 79th minute - this time Carl Rook slotting home after being set up by John Westcott from the right.

It was a good afternoon as well for the last of our teams in action in the division, Maidstone, who came away from Canvey Island with a 1-0 victory.

The only goal of the game came on 56 minutes and it was a worthy winner as Roland Edge launched a 35-yard free-kick into the top corner after Lloyd Blackman had been fouled.

The rain didn't get a chance to ruin Margate's day as they were without a fixture anyway.

Division 1 South

Only one match in the entire division survived the weather and that was at Homelands, usually so badly affected by wet weather, where Ashford came from a goal down to beat Crowborough Athletic.

Former Tonbridge striker Luke Piscina put the visitors ahead on nine minutes - but Paul Jones levelled just before the hour mark and further strikes by Ryan Briggs (80) and Jones again (86) turned the result in Ashford's favour.

Other than that it was a blank canvas - with the fixtures involving Cray Wanderers, Folkestone, Sittingbourne and Whitstable all drowning in the deluge.

Division 1 North

Only three matches survived in this division - and none of them involved a Kent side.

Thamesmead's trip to Potters Bar was among the later cancellations. Chatham were due to play Bromley in a friendly but that match also succumbed to the weather.

The afternoon summed up in one word: washout.
