Woking v Welling United
WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has backed his players to spring an FA Trophy surprise at Woking on Saturday.
The Wings travel to Kingfield to take on Nationwide Conference opposition with a place in the last eight up for grabs.
Pennock said: "I think we’ve got a good chance of causing an upset, even if that means bringing them back to Welling for a replay.
"We’re going to Woking to win the game at the first time of asking. We’ve already played full-time opposition with Huddersfield this season and didn’t let ourselves down.
"But if we play like we did in the first half at Yeading, the game will be over by half-time. If we play like we did in the second half and take our chances, then we’ll have a chance."
Pennock could be boosted by the return of midfielders Rob Owen (back) and Steve Perkins (knee) but Matt Carruthers (hernia) has suffered a setback after only completing 45 minutes of his comeback match at Yeading.
"A lot of good teams are out of the FA Trophy already," added Pennock. "There’s always a surprise package who goes well in this competition, so we’re going to Woking full of confidence.
"Woking are a strong team. It’s a tough game to test how good we are."
